My case for support staffs
My case for support staffs.
In my years of practicing as an automobile service technician (mechanic as we call it) I’ve being maltreated, insulted and disrespected at many instances that I’ve lost count.
I pride myself first as a mechanic anywhere I go despite the fact that I have a degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from University of Benin with almost 20years (my years as an automobile service technician inclusive)of post graduate work experience in different facet of our economy before I decided to do what gives me joy ‘providing solutions in the automobile repair industry’.
This write up is not about me but born out of the level of mis-representation and disrespect support staffs get from their bosses or clients. I would like to bring to light that most of these disrespected support staffs are happily married with educated kids, well trained and highly respected outside there business spheres.
The funny and most nauseating part of it all is that when most of these clients/bosses meet coloured individuals that are support staffs they respect them even hold them in high esteem.
Is it that our culture does not teach us about mutual respect or we are just being proud of what we think we have attained or achieved in life.
It will surprise us to know that most of these support staffs don’t wait for their employers to pay for their trainings or support their vacations be it locally or internationally neither do they get loan from the banks or cooperatives to support their life style or business.
My point in all of these is simple. Let’s have mutual respect for one another.
One interesting fact about having mutual respect for one another is that it gives a business relationship a human face.
I’m a mechanic and I’m proud of who I’ve become and what I’ve being doing over the last 14years because my job gives me joy.
Show some love and respect.
Food for thought…
